Finasteride (Propecia) is a medication primarily used in the treatment of male pattern baldness and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), as well as in the treatment of benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH).
The primary goal of finasteride is to stimulate hair regrowth and, thus, restore hair thickness and elasticity in individuals suffering from male pattern baldness.
However, a number of side effects associated with this drug can be observed, such as decreased libido, erectile dysfunction, and ejaculation problems. Therefore, it is crucial to inform healthcare providers about any existing medical history and current medications to ensure that the treatment is effective and safe.
A systematic review of the literature revealed that the use of finasteride for hair loss has been associated with decreased libido and erectile dysfunction, decreased semen volume, and decreased sexual satisfaction. In addition, finasteride has also been associated with decreased prostate specific antigen (PSA) levels and lower urinary tract symptoms, such as urinary incontinence, frequency and urgency. Therefore, it is crucial to discuss these potential side effects with healthcare providers, who can offer advice and support.
The primary aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of finasteride on the hair growth, libido, erectile dysfunction, and sexual satisfaction of men with male pattern baldness.
This systematic review was carried out to assess the effect of finasteride on the hair growth, libido, erectile dysfunction, and sexual satisfaction of men with male pattern baldness.
The literature search was performed to search MEDLINE (2023) from inception through May 2024 for the current year and the reference lists of relevant articles were obtained. Then, a literature search was carried out in electronic databases (e-MBPR, Embase, Scopus, Scopus, etc.), and a comprehensive review of existing studies was carried out by two authors independently.
A comprehensive analysis was carried out in accordance with the PRISMA flow diagram, according to the following steps: (1) literature selection, (2) quality assessment, (3) full-text review, and (4) selection of studies.
The search was performed using the following keywords, terms, and combination of terms: "finasteride", "hair loss", "propecia", "propecia", "finasteride-related factors" and "hair loss". The search was performed with the following filters:PubMed, Embase, Scopus, ScopusandMedlinePlus.
The studies were excluded because of the following reasons: (1) the study design had no data collection, (2) the participants were not included in the study, (3) the study had a high attrition rate, (4) the study was a randomized controlled trial, (5) the study had a positive results, and (6) the study was a randomized controlled trial.
In total, 16 articles were identified and screened. The remaining 19 articles met the inclusion criteria, and included 18 finasteride-treated men and 11 control men.
A total of 16 articles were screened. A total of 17 articles were identified and screened. There were no significant differences in terms of terms of "sex", "sex characteristics", "hair loss", "propecia" and "propecia". The results were analyzed in accordance with the PRISMA flow diagram and according to the PRISMA-IS criteria.
Finasteride has been shown to be effective for hair loss, however, its effect on libido, erectile dysfunction, and sexual satisfaction was inconsistent. Therefore, it was concluded that finasteride is a safe and effective treatment for hair loss.
The results of the studies in this meta-analysis have demonstrated that the use of finasteride may lead to decreased libido and erectile dysfunction, as well as sexual satisfaction, in men with male pattern baldness.
In this study, the results of the study showed that the use of finasteride may lead to decreased libido and erectile dysfunction, as well as sexual satisfaction. However, the results of the study had shown that the use of finasteride may lead to decreased libido and erectile dysfunction, as well as sexual satisfaction.

How does the hair on your head grow?On average your hair grows about 1 centimetre (half an inch) each month. Hair growsfrom hair follicles, which are located under your skin.
A single scalp hair grows continuously for 2-4 years (growth phase) and then stopsgrowing for 2-4 months (rest phase). After this the hair falls out. In its place a newhealthy hair begins to grow, and the cycle is repeated. The hairs on your scalp arealways in different stages of this cycle so it is normal to lose scalp hair every day.
What is male pattern hair loss?
Male pattern hair loss is a common condition in which men experience thinning of thehair on the scalp, often resulting in a receding hairline and/or balding on the top of thehead. This condition is thought to be caused by a combination of genetic factors and aparticular hormone, DHT (dihydrotestosterone).
DHT causes a decrease in the growth phase and thinning of the hair (see picture). Thisleads to male pattern hair loss. These changes can start to occur in some men in their20s and become more common with age. Once hair loss has occurred over a longperiod of time, the hair may be permanently lost.

Propecia works by reductase of DHT, which is involved in the production of DHT. This enzyme is involved in the breakdown of DHT and in some men it can be activated.
Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) is a male type of testosterone. It is released from the scalp in response to sexual stimulation and is involved in the development of male pattern hair loss.
DHT is produced in the males after the sexual activity has been stopped. DHT is also released from the scalp every day and in response to the activity of the enzyme testes (male thyroid gland).
testosterone (T) and prostate-specific antigen (PSA) are prostate-specific antigen (PSA) which are normally measured at the time of the surgery and at the time of the period of sexual activity. However, after the surgery Propecia can also be used to measure PSA.
